Abstrakt		Researchers have always been interested in families of persons with schizophrenia with regard to their share in the onset and in the course of the illness. Today families of persons with schizophrenia are no longer seen as a causal factor, interest is focused primarily on their coping with the mental disorder of their family member. Altered and unusual behaviour of a person with schizophrenia represents a new experience that requires their response and adjustment. The mode of family coping is determined by several factors. Social, cultural and demographic characteristics of everyone involved play an important part as well as the characteristics of the illness itself. This article refers to different ways of how a family copies with a family member with schizophrenia.
Izvleček		Družina osebe s shizofrenijo je raziskovalce od nekdaj zanimala, zlasti v zvezi z njenim deležem pri nastanku in poteku te bolezni. Danes družin oseb s shizofrenijo ne vidimo več kot vzročni dejavnik, zanimajo nas predvsem v smislu njihovega doživljanja in obvladovanja duševne motenosti družinskega član ter v smislu bremena, ki ga tak član zanje predstavlja. Za družino je spremenjeno, in nenavadno vedenje osebe s shizofrenijo nova izkušnja, na katero se mora odzvati in prilagoditi. Na to, kako se bo družina odzvala, vplivajo številni dejavniki. Pri tem imajo pomembno vlogo kulturne, socialne in demografske značilnosti vseh udeležencev a tudi značilnosti duševne motnje same. Članek govori o načinih odzivanja družine na družinskega člana s shizofrenijo.
