Abstrakt     A psychological autopsy study of suicide victims of Estonia was carried on in 1989 and 1999. The focal subjects were life events in three months before suicide. The aim of this study was to compare the results of the years with completely different socio-political and economic background: in 1989 Estonia was a part of the former USSR and in 1999 - a country in transition to democracy and market economy. The results show no significant differences in life events in different years. However, unemployment and 'money events' frequency was higher in 1999. There were some life event differences by gender and age.
