Abstrakt | Electrotherapy means the use of electric currents for the treatment. We know direct and alternating electric currents, the later ones are divided into low-, middle- and high-frequency electric currents. Low and middle-frequency electric currents are mostly used for the treatment of various acute and chronic pain situations. For a pain treatment transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is widely used for acute and chronic pain stages, the application is very simple for the patient to use it also at home. The use of high-frequency electric currents, which effect is to warm the tissue is almost abandoned. | |
