Abstrakt     Home rehabilitation programmes should be provided for stroke patients that lack transportation and could not be included in outpatient rehabilitation (physical therapy, occupational therapy). The varied and complex manifestations of stroke often reguire the team approach. A home rehabilitation programme should comprise of at least 10-15 visits of therapists (physical therapist, occupational therapist, nursing service). The goal of physical therapy at home is to prevent complications and early mobilisation of the stroke patient, all this in the 'recovery pattern' with correct positioning and movement of the patient at all times, and that of the occupational therapy is to improve his basic activities of daily living, to advise suitable adaptive devices and modification of his living guarters. Family members should receive thorough training to provide effective support.
