Abstrakt     Introduction. Atrioventricular (AV) conduction time varies on a beat-to-beat basis in response to the dromotropic and chronotropic influences of cardiac efferent autonomic activity and electrophysiological properties of the AV conduction pathways. Cardiac autonomic activity and electrical properties of the AV conduction pathways are changed in the ischemic heart disease. The goals of this study were to assess beat-to-beat variability in AV conduction time in coronary patients and healthy subjects and in coronary patients to assess correlation between AV conduction time variability and the degree of coronary atherosclerosis. In coronary patients we wanted to determine the dependence of AV conduction time on cardiac cycle length. Patients and methods. Sixty men with sinus rhythm and without AV conduction disturbances on standard ECG were enrolled in the study. The study group consisted of 30 men (50,9 ± 6,4 years) with stabile effort angina pectoris. 30 age-matched men without clinically evident coronary artery disease served as controls. The PQ interval of the high-resolution ECG served as a noninvasive index of AV conduction. To evaluate the degree of coronary artery disease in coronary patients, coronary angiography was performed. PQ interval and cycle length variability was measured on a beat-to-beat basis using a template-matching computer algorithm. Time-domain measures (SDNN and rMSSD) of PQ interval and cycle length variability were calculated in coronary patients and controls. To quantify PQ interval variability relative to cycle length fluctuations, we calculated the PQPP index. Numerical differences between the studied groups were calculated using the Student's t-test. In coronary patients the correlation between PQ interval variability indexes and the degree of coronary artery disease was evaluated using Pearson's correlation coefficient.
