Abstrakt     Background. Whether the anaesthetic gases are hazardous to the operating room personnel is controversial The aim of this study was to estimate their genetic damage using the method of sister chromatid exchanges in personnel working at one Slovenian hospital Methods. Two subgroups of operating room personnel, non-smokers, female were included in the study.` subgroup A (seven subjects) who were co-operating daily with inhalations anaesthetic gases during operations and subgroup B (six control subjects) who were seldom co-operating with the same gases. Monthly and yearly doses of received ionising radiation (IR) were measured on five subjects in the control subgroup, by thermo-luminous dosimeter one month before medical examination. Interview was used to obtain information aboutpersonal and family disease and working environment. Neurophysiological symptoms were revealed with Finnish Institute of Occupational Medicine. The exchanges of DNA material of a chromosome was evaluated by counting the number of sister chromatid exchanges in 50 methaphases per probe. Results. The subgroups were of equal age. Subgroup A subjects had 18years of working experience while thosefrom subgroup B had 20 years. Subgroup A subjects participated at six anaesthetic procedures per day (on average) and those from subgroup B at five. Five subjects of control subgroup B, who works in operating room for orthopaedic and injures room, received yearly dose of 0.14 mSv on average and cumulative dose of 3.8 mSv (permited effected equivalent dose is 50 mSv per year). Their mediane value of sisler chromatid exchanges was 6.7/cell while on the five subjects of subgroup A that were not exposed to IS, was 7.2/cell. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters).
Izvleček     Izhodišča. Mnenja o škodljivosti anestezijskih plinov za zdravstveno osebje v operacijskih sobah so si nasprotujoča. Naš namen je bil ovrednotiti njihov mutagenski učinek z metodo izmenjave med sestrskimi kromatidami (SCF,) pri osebju ene slovenske bolnišnice. Metode. V študijo smo vključili 13 medicinskih sester nekadilk: v opazovani podskupini A je bilo sedem oseb, ki vsakodnevno sodeluje pri inhalacijskih anestezijah, v kontrolni podskupini B šest oseb, ki le občasno sodelujejo pri tem postopku. Prejeta mesečna in letna doza ionizirajočega sevanja (IS) je bila izmerjena pri petih preiskovankah kontrolne podskupine s termoluminacijskim dozimetrom en mesec pred pregledom. Anamneza je vsebovala podatke o družini, osebnih boleznih in delovnem okolju. Nevropsihološki simptomi so bili dobljeni z vprašalnikom (Finnish lnstitut of Occupational Health). Morfološke spremembe kromosomov so bile ovrednotene s srednjim številom izmenjav med sestrskimi kromatidami na celico v 50 metafazah. Rezultati. Podskupini sta bili enake starosti. Osebe iz A podskupine so bile zaposlene 18 let, iz B podskupine 20 let. Preiskovanke iz podskupine A so sodelovale povprečno na dan pri šestih, iz podskupine B pa pri petih anestezijskih postopkih. Nevropsihični simptomi niso presegali referenčne vrednosti pri nobeni preiskovanki. Podskupina A je kazala večjo vrednost za utrujenost kot podskupina B. Pet preiskovank iz podskupine B, ki opravlja delo v operacijskih sobah za ortopedijo in travmatologijo, je prejelo povprečno letno dozo IS 0,14 mSv in skupno dozo 3, 8 mSv (letna meja efektivne ekvivalentne doze je 50 mSv). Mediana vrednost sestrskih kromatidnih izmenjav (SCE) je bila pri njih 6, 7; pri petih preiskovankah iz podskupine A, ki niso bile izpostavljene IS, pa 7,2. (Izvleček prekinjen pri 2000 znakih).
