Abstrakt     In the submitted research, the visual functions of twelve children with reading and writing disability (dyslexia) were analysed. The analysed group was compared to twelve children of the same age, who were normal readers. Dealing with dyslectic children, ophtalmologic examinations showed frequent disorder in binocular vision. Further, electronystagmography taken during reading revealed uncontrolled "erratic" eye movements. So, the PERG and VEP responses were evaluated due to light stimuli resembling the chessboard. The visual angles of respective light sqares were 24, 49 and 180 minutes while the contrast rates were 5%, 42% and 100%. No significant difference in amplitudes and latency were found within waves P50 and N95. Neurophysiologic differences showed up with VEP responses, demonstrating a prolonged latency of the wave P100 only in the case of highest contrast (100%) and smallest light sqares (24 minutes). Hence, the results support the theory that visual information is disturbed along the visual pathway. However, the experiment failed to show the isolated defect of magnocellular part of visual pathway. On the contrary, many authors report on VEP responses due to the light stimuli of large light sqares and little light contrasts.
