Abstrakt		Complex regional pain syndrome, known shortly as CRPS, in medical jargon called simply »Sudeck« is the term used to denote a rather frequent painful complication after surgery or injury. The syndrome has remained a therapeutic challenge for different medical professions, which is true also for the physical and rehabilitation medicine. Diagnosis is primarily based upon the clinical signs and symptoms rather than upon sophisticated methods, and therapy is so far more or less symptomatic in medical routine. There is only one generally accepted rule: to be effective in curing it we should diagnose and treat it as soon as possible. For this purpose an algorithm for diagnostics and therapy (rehabilitation) might be of great help in clinical practice.
