Abstrakt     Low birth weight infants, because of their pronounced vulnerability, spend a long time in the hospital environment. Despite progress in medicine and technology we must also modify the environment and offer adequate stimulus to preterm infants. In the care of such infants parents must be included as active partners and all unfavourable environmental factors: noise, light and temperature difference must be reduced. With these measures we contribute to such units for preterm infants becoming more open and humane.
