Abstrakt | Background and objectives: A 52- year old woman with a history of myasthenia gravis (MG) presented for insertion of total uncemented hip prosthesis. Methods: A combined spinal-epidural anaesthesia (CSEA) was initiated preoperatively with subarachnoid bolus of 0,5% bupivacaine (3,5 ml) in the L3-4 intervertebral space, and followed by PCEA (patient control epidural analgesia) device postoperatively. PCEA with continuous infusion of 0,2% ropivacaine at 4 mVh, bolus dose of 3 ml and lockout time of 30 min, was implemented via an epidural catheter inserted in the L3-4 intervertebral space. The vital signs and visual analogue scale (VAS) were recorded peri- and postoperatively within 48 h. Results: The patient had an optimal anaesthesia during surgery and a pain free postoperative recovery, uncomplicated by muscle weakness. The vital signs, including systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, Sa02, pH and PaC02 were normal. | |
