Abstrakt     Objective: To assess the techniques of anesthesia for CS. Study design: Retrospective study. Patients: A series of 141 CS performed during the year 2002. Methods: A series was extracted from a total of 1048 deliveries carried out in 2002. The data analyzed included: average age of parturient, anesthesia technique, consumption of crystalloids and ephedrine, drop of systolic pressure for more than 20%, and Apgar score after 1 and 5 minutes. Results: Spinal anesthesia is associated with significantly higher consumption of crystalloids and ephedrine, drop in systolic pressure and higher Apgar score after 1 and 5 minutes compared to general and epidural anesthesia. Conciusion: According to our data the anesthetic practice for CS should be changed in favor of regiona! anesthetic techniques.
