Abstrakt		Nosocomial infection (NI) rate is an important hospital quality indicator. Our ambition is to increase the quality in all fields hospital work, including NI prevention and control. Due to high rate of MRSA, the early identification is a key epidemiological measure. We evaluate NI rate with the support of information technology. To reduce the ever-increasing number of MRSA patients, we set up and introduced a protocol of surveillance cultures to identify cases of MRSA colonization or MRSA infections. We elaborated a computer database for the support of early MRSA identification, decolonization and of other data that constantly alerts us of MRSA presence. The consequential financial load of the hospital must also be considered when dealing with NI control because these interventions are raising the costs of patients treatment and care.
