Abstrakt		There are six specific social care centres in Slovenia. The Social Care Centre of Dutovlje is one of them. There live 165 mentally ill and mentally handicapped adults (clients). Occupational therapy has better an independent professional service since 1996. It is one of the most important professional services provided by the Centre. Occupational therapy is supportive of the individual's (client's) better quality of life and of the highest possible degree of his independant functioning in the environment. A very important occupational innovation was introduced in summer 2002 - domestic activities. The article describes the method of introducing the innovation from the idea to its final realization.
