Abstrakt | Occupational therapists traditionally have a holistic view of the person as a whole in the integration of mind, body and spirit, The Canadian model of Occupational Performance (CMOP) integrates affective, cognitive and physical components with the spiritual, which is furthermore located in the centre of the model. But a problem occurs because to clientcentred occupational therapist no appropriate holistic technology is available which would meet the client's true wishes, goals and needs. The developrrient of occupational therapy under the medical model denying the existence of a spiritual component af human being has aggravated the problem. But occupational therapy is not necessarily bound by the medical model. Occupational therapy is increasinlgy asserting itself in the social model where there are new challenges, new possibilities, new methods and, last but not least, a better quality of life. | |
