Abstrakt		Acute respiratory tract infections are the most common illnesses in childhood, while the most frequent bacterial infection among children is otitis media. Seventy five percent of children have one or more episodes of otitis media before the age of three years. The frequency of acute respiratory infections and otitis media among children treated in the primary paediatric health care centre Šempeter near Nova Gorica is presented. The frequency of antibiotic usage, duration of treatment and the most frequent reasons for the early cessation of treatment with antibiotics are presented.
Izvleček		Akutne okužbe dihal predstavljajo najpogostejšo bolezen, vnetja ušesa pa najpogostejšo bakterijsko okužbo v otroštvu, saj 75% otrok preboli eno ali več vnetij do tretjega leta starosti. Prispevek prikazuje pogostost pojavljanja akutnih okužb dihal in vnetij ušes v obdobju od 1.6.2000 do 30:6.2001 pri otrocih pod šestim letom starosti, ki so vodeni v dispanzerju za otroke Šempeter pri Novi Gorici. V prispevku je prikazana tudi poraba antibiotikov, trajanje zdravljenja in vzroki predčasne prekinitve zdravljenja z antibiotiki.
