Abstrakt		Neuromuscular disorders (NMD) are disorders of the motor unit. NMD are usually chronic, progressive and relatively rare disorders. Muscle weakness is the predominant clinical sign of most neuromuscular disorders, yet different clinical signs and symptoms of complete neuraxis or even other organs or systems involvement could be found in specific NMD. Outcome measures are therefore tailored to the characteristics of each subgroup or even specific disorder within NMD. Rehabilitation medicine has only recently started to provide its meaningful share to the comprehensive management of patients with a specific NMD. Outcome measures are still rather clinically oriented or used to classify patients with NMD into functional levels for the purposes of clinical research studies. Useful outcome measures to be used in rehabilitation medicine are rare and not yet verified in clinical settings. The purpose of the article is to present some commonly used outcome measures in the field of NMD for the evaluation of the clinical progression of the disorders or the evaluation of the medical procedures or drugs proposed in the clinical studies. There exists a great variability among different tests and scores used for the specific NMD disorder and many studies must use several different outcome measures to adequately prove or dis prove the thesis. A standard outcome measure that would properly detect small changes in the functional status of the individual patient with specific NMD and at the same time describe all relevant clinical and rehabilitative specifics of the disorders is still to be developed. The article suggests a test protocol for evaluating the functional status in patients with NMD proposed and designed by Zupan for the use in rehabilitation medicine.
