Abstrakt		The authors compared the course and outcome of pregnancy in three groups of women displaying different pulsarility index of blood flow in the fetat umbilical artery. The data were used to evaluate the importance of flow velocity waveform analysis for clinical decisions in pregnancy and the management of labour. Signifcant correlation wos found between intrauterine growth relardation and pathotogical pulsatility index values. Pregnancy and fetal outcome analysis revealed that women with pathological pulsatility index values or absent end diostolic vetocity also had more premature and small for gestational age infants, more neonates with Apgar less than 7 and higher neonatal mortality than women with normal flow patterns. Increased incidence of cesarean section due to fetal distress in the group of patients with absent end diastotic velocity demonstrated that flow measurements significantly influenced clinical decisions. Our findings, also show that the group of pregnant women with elevated pulsatility index values only (pattern of slightly compromised flow) should be controlled more carefully as there is a significantly higher incidence of mall for gestational age babies, low Apgar scores and higher neonatal mortality in this group in comparison to the group of pregnant women with normal pulsatility index values.
