Abstrakt     In recent years the Ljubljana University Botanical Garden has been systematically cultivating Slovenian endemics and plants from the Slovenian Red Data List. As observed in the Garden itself , a very low number of specimens of a certain plant can quite easily result in its loss. Five years ago, Pastinaca sativa var. fleischmanii (Hladnik) Burnat was saved from extinction A larger population of the same species reveals both its diversity and instability. Some species that thrive in natural habitats do not adapt themselves well to garden conditions, where they do not grow and bloom well. While growing extremely well in some parts of western Slovenia, Primula carniolica Jacq. blooms poorly in garden conditions. Pastinaca. x venusta Host is a naturally sterile hybrid. Due to its extremely small msmbers in nature, it has been bred in garden conditions. Our goal is to provide for the culture of all endemics, as well as of the most endangered species, growing in Slovenia, so as to secure a sufficient quantity of plants with a view to reintroducing them to endangered habitats.
