Abstract     The paper tries to explain the process of mourning and the stages in which it usually develops (shock, protest, desorganization, reorganization). The authors discuss the details of the bereavement and the turmoil of emotions after the suicide of a relative. They try to answer the question, what is the role of a general parctitioner in recognize, evaluating and reacting at the patient who survived the death (suicide) of somebody close to him. The case of a female patient with ulcerative colitis is dealt with in the contribution. Besides the basic data concerning internal and psychiatric view of the illness, the one and a half year lasting treatment, wich runs on a double-track and is not yet finished, is presented. Authoress states, that the patient's attitude towards her illness is much improved and that she functions much better on duty as well as at home. She also seeks immediate help at somatic exacerbations and does not hide her problems as before she used to do very explicitely. The favourable effect of treatment is evident. Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) represents a recently defined clinical entity. It differs a lot from other known organic or psychiatric illness due to many contraires. The leading sympthome is chronic debilitating fatigue lasting over six months, possibly asociated by chronic or recurrent fever, pharygitis, myalgias, arthralgias and adenopathy. Many patients have neuropsyhologic complaints especially cognitive concentration disturbances. often there exists a lack of clinical and laboratory abnormalities. The diagn osis is made by elemination of other possible diseases with similar sympthomes. so far, the cause remains unknown, yet clinical and serological studies suggest an association with viruses, especially human herpesviruses, and imunological disturbances.(trunc.)
