| Abstract | Prevention and control of chronic non-infectious diseases is an important issue of prevention in adult population. A model of organization of the Centre for prevention in general practise as a new activity of primary health care in Slovenia is described. Professional basis for centre activities are the goals, strategy, methodolgy and indicators of the programe for prevention and control of non-infectious diseases (CINDI). Rehabilitation wich is just one of many methods of treatment of coronary patients must be complete, effective, safe, cheap and longlife. Its contents are regular aerobic physical activity, secondary prevention and psychosocial support. Rehabilitation, consisting of three phases, is well defined and accepted in all developed countries. The "Coronary Club" is a form of rehabilitation of coronary patients in the third, long therm phase. The beginning of the coronary clubs' activity in 1971 in Western Germany, and the foundation and activities of the coronary club in Ljubljana are described. | |
