Abstract		In the article the author stresses the important preventive role of health care in the safety of persons in road traffic, and continues with reasons for the necessity of a physician's presence in the rescuing chain of road traffic injuries. He suggests the systematic organization of emergency medical aid in primary health care and the role of rescue activities. The complete organization is based on attaining the shortest accessible time to reach the scene of a traffic accident or a patient whose life is endangered. He demands equal emergency safety everywhere in Slovenia. He presents the place and role of the general practitioner as most suitable for filed work in an emergency medical aid team, and the necessity of his additional training in the field of vital emergency. He places a concrets demand for a committee for emergency medical aid on the level of republic, which should provide the legalization of demands necessary for further development of emergency medical aid.
