Abstract | The Road Traffic Safety Act regulates the possibility of taking a psychological test as part of a medical examination which has to be passed in order to obtain a medical certificate. The health conditions regulations prescribe the contraindications, from the psychoilogical aspects, for determining the fitness of motor vehicle drivers. Investigations show that there are no linear connections between a driver's intelligence and his ability and efficiency in driving. Psychological tests are used to determine the minimum level of intelligence and other abilities (perception, speed of reactions) necessary for safe driving. The psychologist's estimation of the driver's fitness is the integral result of the candidate's - driver's abilities and personal characteristics, as well as their mutal influences. | |
