Abstract		Diabetic retinopathy is the most serious eye complication of diabetes mellitus. If the eyes are not treated, often leads to blindness. Diabetic retinopathy is essentially a microangiopathy affecting the retinal vessels. Diabetic retinopathy is classified as either nonproliferative or proliferative. The only benefit treatment is the laser photocoagulation. The diabetic retinopathy must be timely diagnosed and the eyes must be treated at the appropriate stage of the disease because the laser treatment can only preserve the existing visual acuity.
