Abstract     Background. Systemic-complex approach to psychosocial problems of children and adolescents is presented. The difference between systemic and medical-psychiatric approach is shown. Methods. Systemic approach wus developed since 1975 in the frame of community, social and voluntary work so that around 1000 children und adolescents with psychosocial problems and around 300 volunteers were included. Around 40 of them were taking drugs and around half was on the way to dependency. Results and conclusions. This work was first designed us an antiauthoritarian educational project but step by step the social network with the quality of postmodernistic social movement began to grow. In this movement a new paradigm and epistemology appeared in practical work, in the understanding and response to the reality of existing institutions and in social contacts between volunteers and children with big changes in their personal development. New understanding of the significance of diagnosis, protection of intimacy and secrecy, monitoring and active waiting, confidence, value of life, stabile and secure human relations etc. was developed.
