Abstract     Cholecystoscintigraphy is noninvasive method for evaluation of functional capacity of hepatobiliary system, cholecystis and bile ducts. Radipharmaceuticals have the same hepatocyte uptake, transport and excretion pathways as bilirubin. After intravenous injection they enter liver parenchyma and are excreted in bile ducts. Hepatobiliary kinetics can be influenced with cholecystokynin; it augments bile formation, contraction of biliary tree and cholecystis and relaxes sphincter of Oddi. Morphine, on the contrary, augments sphincter of Oddi contraction, thus increasing the pressure in bile tree and augmenting filling of cholecystis when cystic duct is not obstructed. Cholecystoscintigraphy is indicated in acute cholecystitis, chronic acalculous cholecystitis, common bile duct obstruction, in neonatal jaundice, enterogastric bile reflux and in evaluation of postoperative or posttraumatic biliary leaks.
