Abstract		Adequate level of safety culture in the work environment is the basis to assure higher level of system's performance, environment protection, health and safety of workers on the long term. Investments in safety are quite often defined as costs without need, and all intervention in assuring adequate level of workers availability is understood as disturbances. Important events of late time, Pakš accident and same important events in our country indicate the need of investments in shaping of safety culture. Adequate level of safety culture prevent occurrence of near incidents. Key elements of safety culture and shaping of safety culture is presented in this paper. Consequences of deficiency of safety culture in real situations are discussed. Key elements of safety culture management are described.
