Abstract     Endoscopic ultrasound, a combination of endoscopy and sonography, is a relatively new imaging procedure. The method is currently an accepted part of clinical practice in gastroenterology. With improvements of instruments their capabilities are widened like EUS- guided fine needle aspiration for definitive histological diagnosis or in therapeutical approach. Tue author describes impact of EUS on diagnostical and therapeutical decisions of esophageal disease with an emphasize on esophageal cancer.
