Abstract     Background: Treatment of oral diseases is dependent on the adhesion properties of ointments acting as vechicles of a drug. The aim of our study was to determine which ointment with hyperemic drug benzyl nicotinate (BN) included causes the greatest effect in buccal mucosa. Material and Method: After application of ointments Migliyol, Orabase, Carbopol and PMM (polymethylmethacrylat) with 2% concentration of hyperemic drug BN, the local changes of p02 in tissue were measured with the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) oximetry. Additionally, different concentrations of hyperemic drug BN such as 2,5%, 3 %, 3,5% and 4% were mixed with PMM. Results: The greatest and the longest increase of p02 were observed after application of hyperemic in PMM. Effect of hyperemic drug increased linearly up to 3% concentration. Conclusion: Among the examined ointments, PMM probably with the highest bioadhesion, caused the greatest effect of hyperemic drug BN. Therefore, it was proved to be the most appropriate ointments for local treatment of oral diseases. Additionally, it should be clinically tested.
Summary     Izhodišče: Delovanje zdravilne učinkovine na bolezensko spremenjeno sluznico ustne votline je odvisno od adhezivnih lastnosti podlage, ki ji je učinkovina primešana. Z raziskavo v pogojih in vivo smo želeli ugotoviti vrsto podlage, ki omogoča največji učinek primešanega hiperemika benzil nikotinata (BN) v lični sluznici. Material in metoda: Z elektronsko paramagnetno resonančno (EPR) oksimetrijo smo merili spremembe delnega pritiska kisika (p02) v lični sluznici podgane po nanosu podlag Miglyol, Orabaza, Carbopol in PMM (polimetilmetakrilat), ki smo jim primešali 2% hiperemika BN. Podlagi PMM smo primešali tudi 2,5-, 3-, 3,5- in 4% hiperemika BN. Rezultati: Hiperemik je povzročil največji in najdlje trajajoč dvig tkivnega p02, če je bil vmešan v podlago PMM. Učinek je premočrtno naraščal do 3%-ne vsebnosti hiperemika. Zaključek: Sklepamo, da ima med raziskanimi podlagami PMM najboljše adhezivne lastnosti, saj omogoča največji učinek hiperemika BN. PMM bi bila zato lahko najprimernejša podlaga za lokalno zdravljenje bolezenskih sprememb v ustni votlini, vendar so potrebne še klinične raziskave.
