Abstract		Background. The paper deals with the tertiary level of care provided to patients at the Departments of Cardiology, Haematology, Nephrology, Gastroenterologyand Abdominal Surgery of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. The scope of these activities are described and the main problems outlined. Problems noted were mainly those connected with long waiting periods and appropriateness of referral for diagnostic evaluation and treatment indications for transplantation of solid organs and haematopoietic stem cells were presented. In addition, discrepancy between the number of patients waiting for a transplant procedure and the number of organ donors was discussed. Data on patients that we wish to obta in from primary and secondary care physicians is listed including information that must be provided to the referring doctor
Summary		Izhodišča. Opisana je zdravstvena deja vnost terciarne ravni Kliničnih oddelkov za kardiologijo, za hematologijo, za nefrologijo, za gastroenterologijo in za abdominalno kirurgijo Kliničnega centra, obseg in problemi te dejavnosti čakalne dobe, umestnost napotitve na diagnostično obravnavo in zdravljenje. Prikazane so indikacije za transplantacijo solidnih organov in krvotvornih matičnih celic ter nesorazmerje med številom bolnikov na čakalnih seznamih za transplantacijo ter številom dajalcev organov. Naštete so informacije, ki jih želimo dobiti za bolnike od zdravnikov na primarni in sekundarni ravni, in tiste, ki jih moramo posredovati zdravnikom.
