Abstract     The article presents patients' rights and exposes the right of autonomy as one of the most important right regarding holistic and individual approach to the patient. Concepts like ethics, morality, autonomy, advocacy, informed consent are determined. A research of the Nurse Organization of Ljubljana with the title: Nursing in the light of ethic is presented. The author tried to find out the an.swers of one opened question: What is patient's autonomy? The results are collected with qualitative method and elassified into 20 categories where first 5 categories represent the most frequent answers, suelt as: infortnation, agreement, informed consent, self-determination, individual treatment, respect patient's identity. The author found out tltat ethics in nursing care in Slovenia needs more theoretical and practical approarhes.
