Abstract     Isolated pelvic fractures, especially in polytraumatized patients, demand precise diagnosis and immediate surgical and hospital treatment. In hemodinamically stable patients, pelvic fractures can be treated either by means of open reduction internal fixation or by external fixation. Although both methods have their pros and cons, the two of them do intertwine. The authors show stabilization of pelvic ring by Hoffmann external fixator. Acetabular fractures with femoral central luxation can be treated by means of ligamentotaxis. The authors describe the use of Hoffmann external fixator. Advantages of the method are compare to conservative treatment and open reduction internal fixation.
