Abstract | The article gives an overview of modern tools used in traffic accident analysis with emphasis on the analysis of road trauma. Injury criteria that constitute a theoretical background for injury analysis are presented, along with some software tools employed for accident simulation. In addition, the paper presents a mechanical model of human body used in simulations and a sled device for experimental verification of the results, which are both products of own development. Options for obtaining the geometrical and inertial properties of human body segments needed for load analysis are described. The article presents and comments the results of a series of crash tests performed at different velocities, and analyses the influence of the test subject's head mass on the head load sustained during the crash.
