Abstract     Transplantation of organs may be done during life time or after death. ln both cases, we have to consider specific medical and legal criteria. The last one include the donor's or his legal representative's consent to deprive organs for transplantation. Also necessary is a good professional organisation, national and international cooperation and impeding of abuse. While the demand always exceeds the supply a broad criminal network has extended throughout the world. The legislative regulatlon in Slovenija on the other hand enables a safe and legal transplantation activity. Basic is the Zakon o odvzemu in preraditvi delov človeškega telesa (Deprivation and transplantation of parts of human body Law), also important is the Codex of medical deontology. Slovenian transplantation centre is connected with Eurotransplant into an International transplantation network, which co-ordinaters the supplement with organs for transplantation between diverse countries.
