Abstract		In last decade the Gram-negative nonfermetative aerobic bacili have emerged as important nosocomial pathogens and among them Acinetobacter spp., a very resistant member of this group, capable of surviving in the hospital enviroment for a longer period of time. In the last years the emergence of multi-drug resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter spp. was noted around the world and in some hospitals the outbreaks of MDR strains were noted as well. In General Hospital Maribor we isolated Acinetobacter spp. from 171 clinical specimens of 116 hospitalized patients in the year 1998 and from 159 clinical specimens of 101 hospitalized patients in the year 2002. The susceptibility for all tested antibiotics was lower in the year 2002 as compared to the year 1998, except for the amikacin. Susceptibility rates for imipenem and ampicilin/sulbactam were the only one exceeding 90%. We noted two imipenem-resistant Acinetobacter spp. strains. Epidemic spread of Acinetobacter spp. has not been observed in our hospital, but strict infection control measures and further surveillance are needed.
Summary		V zadnjem desetletju so kot povzročitelji bolnišničnih okužb vzbudili skrb po Gramu negativni nefermentativni aerobni bacili in med njimi bakterija Acinetobacter spp., ki zaradi izrazite odpornosti na fizikalne vplive preživi v bolnišničnem okolju dalj časa. V zadnjem času so v svetu zaznali pojav občasnih epidemij večkratno odpornih sevov bakterije Acinetobacter spp. V Splošni bolnišnici Maribor (SBM) smo v letu 1998 osamili bakterijo Acinetobacter spp. pri 116 bolnikih iz 171 kužnin, leta 2002 pa smo osamili bakterijo Acinetobacter spp. pri 101 bolniku iz 159 kužnin. Ob pregledu občutljivosti za testirane antibiotike smo ugotavljali v letu 2002 zmanjšanje občutljivosti za vse antibiotike, razen za amikacin v primerjavi z letom 1998. Več kot 90-odstotno občutljivost smo opazovali le še za imipenem ter za ampicilin s sulbaktamom. V SBM epidemičnega pojava okužbe z bakterijo Acinetobacter spp. nismo zasledili. Opazili smo dva posamezna primera proti imipenemu odpornega seva, kar opozarja na potrebo po budnem spremljanju okužb in kolonizacij z bakterijo Acinetobacter spp.
