Abstract     A comparative study of the effect of gamma-irradiation on the infectivity of Toxoplasms gondii tissue cysts of three isolates, each of a geographically different origin, was performed. The isolates were from Yugoslavia (TG no. 3), the U.S.A. (me-49) and the P.R. China (NT). Tissue cysts in murine brains were irradiated with 0.4, 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7 kGy and their infectivity was assessed by bioassays on cats and/or mice. The source of irradiation was cobalt 60. A complete inactivation of the Yugoslav, American and Chinese isolates was achieved with 0.7, 0.4 and 0.5 kGy, respectively, although the Yugoslav and Chinese isolates showed a great reduction of infectivity already at the doses of 0.6 and 0.4 kGy, respectivey. Thus, the differences in radiosensitivity of T. Gondii tissue cysts, as reported by different authors, may be isolate-related
