Abstract     The sows under research were examined at three different points in the physiological production process: I - 30 to 35 days following artificial insemination, II - between the second and the third trimester of pregnancy, III - from the 12th to the 20th day of lactation. The rates analysed were those for aspartic aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), total bilirubin, urea, creatinine, total proteins and glucose. The results obtained have shown that the greatest aberration from the accepted physiological rates occure in the first and second groups, where the concentration of GGT is considerably under the lower physiological limit. The amount of creatinine in the first group is slightly above normal, with a tendency to go on rising in the second group, whereas in the third group it is considerably above the upper physiological limit. The rates of the other studied enzymes and metabolities have a tendency to fluctuate within the physiological limits
