Abstract     Lead is still an important factor in day-to-day pathology. The authors analysed 82 infant food samples for lead concentration using the method of atomic absorption. The obtained mean value of 0.010 mg per kg of infant food proved eight times smaller than the maximum lead quantity to be tolerated in breast milk substitutes. The result shows that lead should not present a significant toxic factor in the diet of examined infants
