Abstract     Body temperature is an indicator of the body's physiological state. Its elevation usually points to an illness and is at the same time a very important protective mechanism. An acute febrile status lasting up to two weeks is usually the result of an infectious disease. Fever of unknown origin lasting more than three weeks and without an apparent cause found during at least one week of diagnostic tests is probably due to one of the following three most important causes: multisystem diseases, infections and neoplasms. Treatment of fever always depends on the cause and on the patient's health status.
Summary     Telesna temperatura je pokazatelj fiziološkega stanja organizma.
