Depression is one of the special problems in adults and lead to extensive suffering, disability and invalidization, which are not only limited to patients. Members of family and friends experience frustration, guilt, anger and financial hardship. Women between the ages of 18 and 45 comprise the majority of those with depression. Depression in older adults not only causes distress and suffering but also leads to impairments in physical, mental and social functioning. Disability due to depression in individuals over 65 years old will become a major public health problem in the near future because of demographic changes. Despite being associated with excess disability, morbidity and mortality, depression often goes undiagnosed and untreated.
