Abstract | Background. To review the use and proposed mechanisms of amniotic membrane transplantation in the ocular surgery: preparing and storage; indication for the use of amniotic membrane and description of different surgical procedures. Methods. Significant clinical and e.xperimental publications are reviewed and our results are presented. Results. Amniotic membrane transplantation stimulates epithelialization and has anti-inflammatory and anticicatrical effect. Conclusions. Good results of treatment with amniotic membrane transplantation can be seen in resolving a persistent epithelial defect of the cornea, symptomatic bullous keratopathy after cataract surgery, acute chemical and thermal burn of the ocular surface and limbal stem cell deficiency. | |
Summary | Izhodišča. V preglednem članku smo prikazali uporabo in mehanizem delovanja amnijske membrane v očesni kirurgiji, in sicer pripravo in shranjevanje; indikacije, kdaj jo uporabljamo, ter različne vrste kirurških tehnik. Metode. Pregledali smo klinično in ekperimentalno literaturo ter prikazali indikacije in uporabo amnijske membrane. Predstavili smo tudi naše bolnike. Rezultati. Amnijska membrana pospešuje epitelizacijo in zavira vnetno reakcijo ter brazgotinjenje tkiva. S tem prispeva k hitrejši reepitelizaciji in celjenju poškodovanega tkiva. Zaključki. Dobri uspehi zdravljenja s presaditvijo amnijske membrane so se pokazali pri ponavljajočih se epitelnih okvarah roženice z ulkusom ali brez, simptomatski bulozni keratopatiji po operaciji sive mrene, akutnih kemičnih in toplotnih poškodbah sprednje površine očesa ter poškodbi limbalnih zarodnih epitelijskih celic. | |
