Abstract		A well performed and functionally successful arthrodesis of the calcaneus with the tibia is presented. After three months the patient has a full time sedentary job. He walks and works by means of a special shoe adapted to the stump, but without any other aids. He does not use the shoe at home, but only soft and light footwear. It is our opinion that in such cases a speedy decision on infragenicular amputation of the injured tibia should be avoided.
