Abstract     The purpose of the present article is to highlight the motor relearning approach to physiotherapy interventions. In the article the stages of motor learning are described: the cognitive, associative and autonomous. The stages of motor learning are followed by factors that influence the process of motor learning. The characteristics of practise, feedback information, transfer of learning, motivation, instructions and environmental factors are described. The three different levels of description of move ments: action, movement and neuromotor processes are explained. Often used assessment protocols are briefly described. At conclusion the results of some clinical studies are presented.
