Abstract     ln last few decades methods of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) are more and more popular by patients. There is an estimation, that CAM is guite successfully included in medicine by doctors because of holistic approach of CAM and therapeutic relationship between patient and physician, supported by nature of CAM itself. Patients' complains in convential medicine are usually based on inappropriate communication and among others it can be one of the most important reasons for patients' growing interest for CAM. It is not every year more popular by patients only, but also interest among doctors to study and practice different methods of CAM is growing. An opportunity for personal growing and more effective relationships seems to be important motivations for physicians' decisions to add CAM to their practice or to change it completely with CAM. It is time to accept the fact of presence and needs of CAM in our society and to regulate the field of CAM with integration into Slovene national health care system in terms of professional classification, education, frnancing and research.
