Abstract | Preterm birth is one of the most common causes of perinatal mortality in developed countries. Intra-amniotic infections are an important cause of extreme preterm birth and are also associated with increased risks of neonatal complications such as intraventricular hemorrhage and cerebral palsy. Immunosuppressive therapy, together with antibiotic treatment may successfully prolong pregnancy in the setting of infection. | |
