Abstract | In contrast to the common opinion that epikarst water contains no life, we confirmed on several occasions, that the water dripping from epikarst zone is very rich in specific fauna with the Copepoda as the dominant animal group.Sampling of the epikarst water for biological analyses requires several specific designed sampling devices. They are divided into devices to collect water samples from small water bodies filled with percolating water and filter bottles to concentrate (and minimize) samples for biological analyses. Several low-cost, home-made and highly efficient sampling devices are described for sampling the epikarst water for the fauna living there. | |
