Abstract | Anticholinergic syndrome is a common, well known and easily recognized toxindrome caused by inhibition of muscarinic receptors. Many classes of prescription and over-the-counter medications have anticholinergic properties. In addition to them, a number of plants and mushrooms contain anticholinergic alkaloids. Treatment is primarily supportive. Physostigmine is a specific antidote for severe anticholinergic poisoning. | |
