Abstract     In this article we discuss about the case of massive upper gastrointestinal bleeding in young adult male due to Dieulafoy lesion of the duodenum. The diagnosis was made by the endoscopy and therapeutic hemostasis by endoscopic argon fotocoagulation. Dieulafoy lesion is an uncommon cause of GIT bleeding in wich significant and often recurrent hemorrhage occurs. It occurs from a pinpoint nonulcerated arterial lesion, usually high in the gastric fundus. Similar lesion has also been found in the distal oesophagus, small intestine, colon and rectum. The patologic substrat of this entity consist of an abnormally large calibre persistent tortuous submucosal artery, which was been demostrated by histological examination of resected specimen and by postmortem examination, which protrudes through a tiny mucosal defect. A history of NSAID or alcohol abuse is usually absent. Endoscopy is the method of choise as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool.
