Abstract     Chronic noninfective diseases are the major morbidity and mortality cause in European countries. Most of them represent cardiovascular diseases. Many risk factors exert their influence on those diseases. If diagnosed early enough and effectively treated and prevented improvement of the health of individuals and of the whole population is achieved. Our goal was to determine the extension of those risk factors among the sample of adult population of Miren - Kostanjevica (200 persons). We found out that one third of them were physically inactive. One third of them had normal body weight. 19,2% of them were cigarette smokers and 40% had borderline or developed hypertension. Only 28,5% had normal blood cholesterol values. 87% of them had normal plasma glucose values. 16% of them had increased plasma trigliceride values. Our study revealed that male subjects and those overweight and obese are more prone to develop cardiovascular diseases.
