Abstract		Lamictal (lamotrigine) has been used as effective antiepileptic drug (AED) for more than a decade. Arrival of newer AED's brought patients with epilepsy a new opportunity. The reduction of seizures or complete seizure freedom is not the only characteristic we would expect from AED. For patients with epilepsy the quality of life is of exceptional importance. Occurrence and frequency of adverse effects can be reduced by choosing appropriate AED. Lamictal has been used as a first line therapy because of safety profile especially for the population of women for a number of years.
