Abstract		A stepwise approach to a possibly intoxicated child is presented in this paper. It leads a reader through a focused and reassuring acquisition of relevant information and clinical examination during which severity of intoxication can be estimated. Specific signs and symptoms as well as intoxication syndromes are also presented, which can be helpful in identifying a specific toxic agent. The importance of stabilisation of vital functions and "ABCD" approach to an intoxicated child are also stressed. Basic laboratory investigations and specific toxicological and other investigations are also presented, which can lead to a final diagnosis and optimal treatment plan as well as to prognosis of intoxicated child.
